A selection of star objects from the Yorkshire Museum have been included in the BBC's A History of the World project.
The joint project between the BBC and the British Museum aims to tell the history of the world through objects and the museum's director, Neil MacGregor, is presenting a BBC Radio 4 programme using 100 objects from his museum
The gilt silver vessel inside which the rest of the Vale of York Viking Hoard was found
The Vale of York Viking Hoard, jointly owned by the British Museum and the Yorkshire Museum, is one of them. It will return to York for the re-opening of our museum on 1 August, 2010.
Several other of our treasures feature in a North Yorkshire selection, featuring in a weekly programme on BBC Radio York, on Sundays at 11am, which are pictured above.
All of these objects, which each have a story to tell, will also take pride of place in either our Roman York or Medieval York galleries when the museum re-opens.
