As part of our programme of events to accompany our Viking exhibition, join us for this informal workshop, led by historical book enthusiast and poet Joanne Hardy. Spend time on gallery in our immersive and atmospheric space before retreating to a quiet room to develop your creative writing skills.

Whether it’s a thrilling tale of action and adventure, a Viking saga, or the thoughts of the fighters on the longship as they approach the shore, we are sure that you will find plenty to write about!

Meet inside the Museum Street gates and gain an insight into one of the most popular gardens in York. The gardens contain a wealth of plant life, botanical specimens and wildlife, as well as the spectacular ruins of St Mary’s Abbey and the Roman Multangular Tower. Our knowledgeable guides will show you the highlights of this truly unique garden.

Tours start at 1pm every Sunday and last approximately one hour.
